The Business Management Unit of Universitas Sumatera Utara (BPU USU) organized a Seminar and Socialization on Governance and Management of Enterprises and Business Entities at Universitas Sumatera Utara at the Prof. Dr. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business, Jl. Prof. T. M. Hanafiah, SH, USU Campus.

The event, themed “Realizing Professional and Independent Business Units through Good Governance and Effective Management,” was attended by representatives of university leadership, business unit managers, and innovation partners under the auspices of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The Head of BPU USU opened the seminar, Dr. Doli Muhammad Jafar Dalimunthe, S.E., M.Si., who stated that this activity is part of BPU USU’s strategic efforts to strengthen university business governance in a professional, transparent, and competitive manner—serving as a tangible step in supporting USU’s vision to become an independent, excellent, and sustainable university.

The event featured two speakers. The first, Dr. Syarifah Lisa Andriati, S.H., M.Hum., Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, USU, and member of the USU Audit Committee for 2025–2030, delivered a presentation on The Implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) in the University Environment. She emphasized the importance of applying the five core principles of GCG, which are transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness, as the foundation for managing university business entities.

The second speaker, Rahmad Paruhum Nasution, S.T., M.Sc., a business practitioner, presented material on Business Management and Governance at Universitas Sumatera Utara. He emphasized the importance of enhancing effectiveness and efficiency in managing university business units by strengthening organizational structures, ensuring transparent reporting systems, and implementing performance-based managerial strategies to support institutional autonomy.

In addition, participants received an overview of the legal foundations and policy directions governing university enterprises, including Rector’s Regulation No. 16 of 2023 on the Business Management Unit, Rector’s Regulation No. 1 of 2024 on Enterprises and Business Entities, and Rector’s Regulation No. 20 of 2025 on the Restructuring of Business Entities.

Through this activity, all business units and entities within USU are expected to adopt good governance principles, optimize university resources, and contribute to enhancing institutional independence. This interactive event also served as an important momentum for all business units to strengthen collaboration and improve managerial capacity in support of Universitas Sumatera Utara’s vision of institutional self-reliance.
